Owensboro's Local Board of Independent Insurance Agents

Owensboro's Local Board of Independent Insurance Agents

On June 13, I traveled with Peggy and Tara to Owensboro to meet the IIAK members in the area. We met
Owensboro Local Board at the Briarpatch
at the Briarpatch Restaurant in town. I had the salad bar. After lunch, Peggy talked about the many things that IIAK does for its members. Specifically, she started with the 2013 legislative session. Here are a list of the topics that she covered:

* Commissioner of Insurance confirmationElectronic Proof of InsuranceEmployer-organized asssociationsAffordable Care Act General Assembly authorize the ExchangeGlass Bill
* Credit Scoring

Peggy also talked about the CRM class that was happening in Louisville this week. The dates for next year are April 2-5, 2014 on Principles of Risk Mgmt. A new class available to anyone in the insurance industry is the  Super Management program and will be held on September 12-13, 2013 at the Hyatt in Downtown Louisville.

The newest way to get CE is through the Agents and Brokers Education Network or ABEN. It is a great way to get CE without traveling and... NO test taking! That's right! You can sit at your desk and see the instructor, the power point and you can even communicate with the instructor and type in your questions. Pay attention because a series of codes will show up during the class and you will need to enter those in at the end of the course to receive credit.

Peggy touched on Project CAP that is slated to launch before the Annual Convention on November 6-8, 2013 which will be held at the Brown Hotel in Louisville, KY. Register and make your reservations today.

T year Trusted Choice has partnered with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to raise money for children with life-threatening medical conditions. At Big "I" Day and the Young Agents Sales and Leadership Conference attendees raised more than $1,000 for Make-A-Wish. IIAK will continue to raise money throughout the year for this great cause... And all the money that we raise will go to a child in KENTUCKY!

Then it was my turn to talk! But I was a little shy... so Tara introduced me and talked about my position as CFO - Chief Fun Officer/Blogger. She talked about how my blogs would help integrate our social media platforms with our website and our members.

It was so nice for the Owensboro Local Board to invite us to their meeting. We had so much fun that we are going to return for their golf outing on September 5, 2013! See you there.

On the road again...
After meeting the fine folks of Owensboro, we stopped by a couple of our member agencies and nobody was home:-( So we traveled to Leitchfield, Ky on our way back to Louisville. You are never going to believe who we ran into... none other than our National Director, Steve Kinkade!  Everyone was busy at Kinkade -Cornell Insurance Agency, Inc. He was so nice to let us interrupt his day. We chatted for awhile and talked about IIAK's upcoming events. He was very happy to meet me, and the feeling was mutual.

Tee Cee Meets New Peeps at the CRM

Last week, I had a chance to visit the CRM class on opening day. It was so nice talking to Rich Rudolph. He has been in the insurance business for just over 40 years. He provides risk management and insurance education through his business Famous Reindeer Educational Enterprises, LLC. (Get it... Famous Reindeer and his last name is Rudolph!) He lives in Southern Indiana with his wife Bunny. I enjoyed hearing about his family and his three sons. And he loves soccer too!

before CRM Registration begins
Can't wait until next year. Save the Date for April 2-5, 2014 at the Hyatt Regency in Louisville, KY. It is an achievement to receive your CRM designation and this is a great opportunity to work towards this five-step process. It also qualifies for CIC updates and 20 hours of continuing education credits.

Here are what some of the participants had to say about Kentucky's CRM:
  • “Of all the venues I have attended, this was by far the best!  Thanks again Kudos to you and your IIAK team!”
  • “Thank you for putting on such a great program.  Absolutely, the best that I have attended!  Great facility and a nice reception to connect everyone.”
